In 2018, we welcomed our sweet son, James, into the world. In the same year we also lost our son when he was just 5 months old. He became very ill and we had to say goodbye to him a lot sooner than we could ever imagine... but boy, did he get a whole lot of love while he was here with us.

I am currently 23 years old. I’m about to go back to college to continue my education in nursing. Right now, I currently work in home healthcare as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) who absolutely loves helping people and I can honestly say that I really love what I do. I have a big family who was blessed enough to join with James’ father’s family, making my family just a little bit bigger and adding a lot more love. I am so blessed to have the family that I do. Lucky is truly an understatement.
After our son passed away, me and Josh did not stay together. We dealt with things a lot different and it just wasn’t right for us anymore. We were both different people have the loss we experienced. But luckily, our families have remained extremely close and we all will always be family no matter what.
Near the end of 2019 I met a very sweet, caring & loving man who has now become my husband. We got married in June 2020. We share a beautiful life together, with our sweet pupa Diesel and Axle. I couldn’t be happier to have a man by my side, who may not have experienced all the trauma and the loss with me but is here for me every step of the way as I still continue to cope with my loss everyday. I truly believe God blessed the broken road that led me straight to him.
I found out I was pregnant when I was only 19, and Josh was 22. We were over the moon excited when we found out we were going to be parents. I gave birth to our son, James, at the age of 20 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. James was born on July 15, 2018, 8 weeks early due to complications during pregnancy. He came into this world weighing 3 lbs, 1.6 oz and measuring 16 inches long. Our sweet boy spent 4 weeks in the NICU before he could come home with us but he was such a strong boy and such a fast learner. A few weeks after being home with us is when he became very ill and was in the hospital in Baltimore for a few months. He was so resilient, brave, and strong. We couldn't be any more proud to have him as our son.
Look for James' story on my blog page.
In memory of our sweet angel, James Robert Joyner.
